What customers say?

“ We have 4 person for a 7 course meal, overall is excellent. Especially recommend to have the fried and grilled fugu. Dinner courses is well balance and very enjoyable. Service is great, attentive to details and timely prompt not rushing. Thank you and good job to chef and waitress. ”

“ Guenpin FUGU&KANI 5 Had lunch here and went for the $75 set menu — every dish was excellent, from the delicate starters to the rich hot pot. The food was beautifully prepared and highlighted the refined flavours of both fugu (pufferfish) and kani (crab), a rare treat to find in Singapore. Service was equally outstanding: attentive, knowledgeable, and never rushed, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The atmosphere was quiet and serene, perfect for catching up with friends or enjoying a more intimate meal. Overall, a truly special dining experience — authentic Japanese delicacies in a calm setting. Easy 5 out of 5. ”

“ Overall, it is a recommended experience. A very unique dining experience with top-notch service. The pufferfish skin is recommended—it has a special slightly crispy texture and pairs well with the dipping sauce, making it appetizing. The final course, where pufferfish meat and porridge are cooked in a paper pot, is quite interesting. One star deducted due to one issue: Ordered the seven-course meal, but it was clearly not enough—plenty of protein but lacking in carbohydrates and almost no vegetables. If they served individual rice bowls instead of a single porridge dish for sharing, it would be much better. The positive side is that the meal feels very light and refreshing, so there’s no burden on digestion, making it less likely to contribute to weight gain. ”

“ My friend and I tried the 8 courses fugu meal and we added in the snow crab sashimi. The experience of service is top tier and their staff is very friendly. They explain to us the best way and best methods to eat the meal. Well go back again when we have the time. ”

“ I recently visited Guenpin Singapore, the sole restaurant specializing in Pufferfish cuisine. We explored nearly every part of the fish and sampled the entire menu, from head to tail, from skin to flesh, and from raw to authentically prepared dishes as they would be in Japan. While the raw skin and sashimi fugu proved somewhat chewy and lacked flavor on their own, they came alive when paired with the provided condiments. The deep-fried pufferfish skin and meat, on the other hand, delivered a delightful crunch and satisfying taste, earning my favor. The Soft Roe resembled silky tofu in texture and offered a delicate flavor. Our dining experience extended to Pufferfish Hot Pot and Porridge, both of which were expertly prepared. Our dining experience extended to indulging in the Pufferfish Hot Sake, a specialty of the restaurant. In addition to Pufferfish, we savored Snow Crab in various forms—sashimi, Croquette, and tempura—each exhibiting a more vibrant taste profile compared to the pufferfish. We concluded our meal with delightful ice cream, a fitting end to a remarkable dining experience. The chef and staff were gracious and accommodating, further enhancing our enjoyment. Truly, the combination of exceptional cuisine and the warmth of friendly company made for an unforgettable evening. ”

“ The service here is impeccable! Loved the ambiance and the people here, who are so friendly and attentive to your needs! They made sure that every detail of your meal is looked into, and even wrote a nice "congratulations" for my celebration there! However, I was rather underwhelmed by the cooked pufferfish. It was rather plain with the clear shabu soup. Regardless, the sashimi and sushi were SUPER GOOD!!! I loved it so much! Fresh and tangy! Worth at least one try! ”

“ A delightful intro from my buddy on this hidden gem. A specialty restuarant in Fugu aka puffer fish and Kani aka crab. I didn't have such good quality Fugu presented to us in wonderfully tasty manner. A nice selection of drinks to accompany the dishes. A must have is the fugu fin hot sake. Very interesting. A bonus is also it is reasonably priced. Will be back to try the Kani. ”

“ Amazing tasty and healthy Fugu(puffer fish) with its high in protein, low in fat and a subtly-flavoured. To enjoy it to the full set, it would be better to ask staffs how to eat or what seasoning/ sauce is the best match for each dish. For example, Sashimi(which is called tessa, paper-thin slices of pufferfish flesh) & tecchiri nabe (a fugu-filled hotpot) are both best eaten with ponzu(a citrus sauce often mixed with soy sauce). Fugu karaage (crispy fried fugu) is the perfect to pair with a cold beer. Because it has been allowed to import whole Fugu since last year, they can serve very fresh fish now. Very comfortable restaurant and main chef is friendly and has great hospitality. Must go. ”
